VISIONS OF THE CIVIL WAR
This presentation is given in the first person of the life and times of a Civil War soldier. "Old Sarge Bob" arrives at your site in full uniform of a soldier in the 24th Michigan Volunteer Regiment Company C with all accoutrements. As he reminisces about his life during the bloodiest of the American Wars, he rummages in his haversack, showing, describing and sharing info about the items that a
typical Civil War soldier might have. For example: hardtack, soap, tobacco, writing paper, candle, playing cards, dice, coffee and eating/cooking utensils are shown, explained and passed around to the students if applicable.
Other topics covered are his uniform, equipment, marching maneuvers and memories of the gritty reality of a soldier's everyday life. Our professional, degreed presenter is a former history teacher as well as a serious student of the Civil War.
