"Know No Bullies"

"Know No Bullies" is a lively interactive concert by an experienced and professional presenter. The music included are fun songs that illustrate key elements of the program itself, which is crafted specially for each age group: primary and intermediate grade elementary students. The exciting and engaging stories with understandable messages are never read, but are told from memory in theatrical fashion. Included in the dialog are different options that students can take if confronted by bullying behavior. Useful techniques students can use include, but are not limited to, walking away, telling the bully to stop, ignoring the bully, or telling an adult. The concept that it's OK to stand up for yourself and others is included.

Cyberbullying is also covered. Cyberbullying is bullying that takes place using electronic technology. Electronic technology includes devices and equipment such as cell phones, computers, and tablets as well as communication tools including socials media sites, text messages, chat, and web sites.

Kids who are being cyberbullied are often bullied in person as well. Additionally, kids who are cyberbullied have a harder time getting away from the behavior.

In December of 2011, the state of Michigan passed an Anti-Bully Bill.

Legislation is currently being enacted in the United States Congress which is committed to putting an end to bullying, discrimination, and harassment in our nations school. According to Education Secretary Arne Duncan, "Bullying can no longer be seen as a normal rite of passage. As a country we must all work together to take action against bullying and improve the safety climates of our schools and communities."
